Lt Aura Ion Library – Merisani
In January 2014 an airplane carrying medical personnel crashed in Transylvanian Alps killing two of its passengers; the Pilot and a young military trainee doctor Lt Aura Ion.
In September 2014, honouring Aura Ion’s memory, her family set up a village library. Aura Ion was very fond of reading and she spent much of her time doing this. By launching this Library the family wants to take her dream further and share her love of reading with the less privileged children in poor communities across Romania,
The Library will have more than 2,000 books, most of them will come from my family private library and from donations. These books will be used by the children studying in this school and by local people.
This Library is the first to be launched in this village and will be a true asset for the community, as we know the children in these remote villages don’t have access to books and internet as other kids from the main cities in Romania,
Through the generous donations received and with the invaluable contribution of MaxiBus Travel who delivered these items for free, From Bristol with Love contributed over 200 books, a TV set, Video recorder and dozens of VHS video cassettes.
